| Composer | Performer | Title | Genre | Label | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ornette Coleman | Snowflakes and Sunshine | Jazz, Avant Guarde | Blue Note, 1965 | First two songs were recorded live in Stockholm, 12/4/65, and released as part of "At the Golden Circle, Vol. 2". The recording was remastered by Rudy Van Gelder in 2001. These performances featured Coleman on alto sax, violin and trumpet, with David Izenzon (bass) and Charles Moffett (drums). The last two songs are from his watershed "The Shape of Jazz to Come" album, and feature Don Cherry (cornet), Charlie Haden (bass) and Billy Higgins (drums). Here, Coleman only plays alto. This album is largely credited as being a primary influence in avant guard jazz (the influence on John Coltrane is audible, if a side-by-side comparison is done, especially noting that Coltrane had Coleman vets Don Cherry, Ed Blackwell, Percy Heath and Charlie Haden play on his '61 album "Avant Guarde". | |
