Evgeny Kissin, piano Pictures at an Exhibition Classical, Romantic, Russian, solo piano RCA Red Seal, 2002 Written in tribute to Victor Hartman, an aspiring architect and stage/costume designer whom had become friends with Mussorgsky. The piece is regarded as a masterpiece of romantic era Russian piano composition, and has been orchestrated multiple times, most notably in 1922 by Maurice Ravel.
