Coleman revolutionized and scandalized the jazz world with this recording, which set the stage for John Coltrane's "sheets of sound" methodology. Coleman divided his forces into two quartets, one led by himself and one led by Dolphy, and the recording was set so that one quartet could be heard from one speaker and the other quartet on the other speaker. |
