The orchestra was comprised of members of the Vienna Philharmonc Orchestra, and titled as such by Decca for recording purposes. Boskovski was noted for conducting the annual Vienna New Year's concerts, and for reviving the tradition of conducting while doubling on violin, a tradition begun by the waltz master Johann Strauss. The Posthorn Sereneade was completed on 8/3/1779 while Mozart was in Salzberg.
