I discovered after I began playing Die Walküre that the first CD was missing, and that in fact I was playing the 2nd CD, and had begun with the 2nd Act of the opera. So, instead of 4+ hours of opera, we only had 3 hours and about 15 minutes. A crushing blow for my audience, I am sure, as well as for me. However, a little Wagner is better than no Wagner, and my dismay at not being able to play the entire piece is balance by my enjoyment for what I was able to play.
